Oregon State Police Sergeant Henry Kaczenski (right) posing with Clifford “Slim” Bennett outside the Multnomah County Courthouse in Portland, 1956 (Oregonian). The photo was never published in the paper but the image of Kaczenski was published as a headshot (note touch-up marks).

The above image is included in the book, but I learned yesterday that the caption is incorrect! This is actually Hood River Sheriff Rupert Gillmouthe (c. 1967). Thanks to his step-daughter Jana Arthur for the clarification! (Archive of Ann Sullivan)
